Demand from China Down, East Kalimantan Coal India Hoping to

Sluggish demand for coal from China, making mining in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) switch to the mecca of India.

Head of the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) EK, Ameriza M Moses, saying, during this Kaltim coal exports to supply energy needs in China. However, demand for coal from the Bamboo Curtain country has dropped dramatically. Kaltim now expect full on India.

"Coal exports to China in 2011 totaled 62.71 million tons. Meanwhile, exports to India only around 43.5 million tonnes. However, until August 2014, exports to China was overtaken by India. China is now only amounted to 33.85 million tons, while exports to India reached 37.66 million tons, "he explained.

Ameriza said, despite ever-increasing demand from India, but has not been able to match a previous request from China. He continued, declining demand from China that is the cause of sluggish price of coal from East Kalimantan.

"This will be compounded by the coal export policy to be issued by China. Because China reportedly will issue a policy to utilize their coal reserves. That is, China will reduce their dependence on imported coal, including from East Kalimantan, "he said.

Ameriza hope, East Kalimantan coal will be helped by increasing demand ASEAB India and a number of countries that are developing coal-fired energy sources.

"In India, demand next year is believed to increase as the new prime minister amid spirit of building a country with coal energy sufficiency. So also with Bangladesh, and Malaysia continue to develop electrical energy coal. Vietnam which have been exporters, two years from now we will import the predictions of our coal, "he said.

However, the coal industry recognizes Ameriza Kaltim difficult to recover. On the other hand, believes Ameriza East Kalimantan coal sector survive in the future as the world's energy needs continue to rise. "Because of this coal energy, so it will definitely continue business there is a demand. This is in addition to the Chinese market will sustain. I see, next year there may be improved with increasing demand from other countries. But it depends on the demand, "he said.
